Skolt Saami Community Day at Sámi Museum Siida on Saturday 06.09.2025 attracted a large audience. The event was organized by Oummu rââst raaj – People cross the borders project, MÀHTUT and SAMIPOLITY projects in cooperation with Sámi Museum Siida and Ä´vv Skolt Sámi Museum.

The Community Day succeeded in its purpose of bringing Skolt Saami community members together from both the Finnish and Norwegian sides. An important part of the event was creating a safe atmosphere where people could get to know the Skolt Saami objects that were selected according to participants' vote from Siida’s collections. Over 70 people attended the event, and a third were Skolt Saami living in Norway. The participants got to know their community and their own roots more deeply, and some of the participants found their own families' objects in the collection. The event was a meaningful event for the participants and the community as a whole.
