Participatory Budgeting in Inari Has Reached the Voting Stage – Vote Between 30 March and 19 April 2026

Residents of Inari submitted 70 proposals for the €20,000 budget

The submission period for proposals for Inari municipality’s 2026 participatory budgeting ended on 1 March. This year’s theme was mental wellbeing, which is one of the focus areas in the municipality’s Wellbeing and Safety Plan 2026–2029. In celebration of Inari’s 150th anniversary, the participatory budgeting allocation is €20,000. Residents submitted a total of 70 proposals on how the €20,000 reserved for participatory budgeting should be used. A big thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal! The proposals related to, for example, organising different events, hiking infrastructure, gathering places, and various leisure activities. This is the eighth time that participatory budgeting has been implemented in Inari.

The proposals were reviewed before the voting stage – five proposals advanced to voting

All submitted proposals were reviewed by the municipality. After combining identical or similar proposals, 49 remained. Proposals that met the following criteria advanced to the voting stage: they fall within the municipality’s authority, can be implemented with €20,000, and are not already being realised through other means. Five proposals qualified for voting.

All residents of Inari who turn 12 this year or are older may vote on which proposal will be implemented with the participatory budgeting funds. Each person may vote once. Voting is possible via an online form found on the municipality’s website , at the libraries in Ivalo and Inari and on the library bus, or at the Inari Municipality Inclusion Centre (Rantatie 10 B, Ivalo).
